I have a new Spring garden started and we've just gotten some baby chickens! They are so precious. We plan to raise about six chickens in a coop in our backyard. It seems to be quite popular here in urban Austin. The first 3 chicks we got are Americaunas, they lay multi-colored eggs. We will be picking up 3 more Buff Orpingtons tomorrow, they are said to be the friendliest breed of chicken. We will be enjoying their fresh eggs, but we won't be eating the chickens, they are already like pets. Any good chicken name ideas? :)
My latest creations (the few that I managed to complete in crazy February!)...

why do you always show those wonderful items you create yet then I have to find out they are already sold.... love the chicks
ReplyDeleteOh those little brown ones are so sweet .they look like little sparrows almost. you could name one sparrow . how about dixie as in a dixie chick lol you almost have to do that ;-) maybe you could have pixie & dixie ? if one were a male I think conner would be a real great name for a rooster .
ReplyDeleteJanie, I'm sorry, normally I'm more on top of my blogging and can get them posted on the same day they go into my Etsy shop! Thank you for the love though. :)
ReplyDeleteRox, the little brown ones are my fav! I love Pixie and Dixie! I hope we don't have any males, since they aren't allowed in the city. :( Although, I agree, Conner is a great rooster name!
First of all, thanks so much for your kind words, Lela!
ReplyDeleteAnd those chickens are so cute! I love the Dixie & Pixie idea! You could play on that go on with Mixie and Trixie, etc... ;)
And I love that garland, so lovely!
And I'm sorry I misspelt your name, Leila! For some reason the i is not working too well on my lappy today!
ReplyDeleteAnd now I want a baby chicken. Thanks a lot, Leila, haha ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that you have some baby chicks, Leila! I think you'll have to get to know them personally and then they'll reveal their names. And what do your kitties think about them? My girls would be eying them a little too close for comfort. Someday, I'm going to grab some of your art before everything is sold, sigh... ;)
ReplyDeleteThat sewing basket is awesome! I love how you see so many things that can be converted into art.
ReplyDeleteI think it's really cool that you're raising chickens, too. What a great idea! Not warm enough here yet to plant seeds outdoors, but I think I'm going to start my seeds indoors this weekend. At least some herbs...
Happy Friday!
I agree that sewing basket is great. I love that you have chickens. I want to raise some for the eggs some day but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to get my husband on board...or maybe I will? I'm crossing my fingers.
ReplyDeletethat's neat you're raising chicks!! Good luck lol
ReplyDeleteLove that picnic basket alot! My first sewing box growing up was a picnic basket <3
