La Catrina
This piece is inspired by my fav theme, "Dia De Los Muertos". I've been seeing the name "La Catrina" pop up when surfing the net, but I only recently researched her meaning. She's very big in Mexican folk lore, and is usually portrayed as a skeleton beauty. She takes men's souls when they are unsuspecting, so she's a little scary and maybe holds a grudge? I dig her though, because it's another chance for me to mix skulls with feminine appeal. I tried to paint this piece with Mexican folk art in mind, so there are many colorful embellishments.
